Dr. Ivan Zinger (he/him) is an Adjunct Professor with the Law Department at Carleton University. He joined the Public Service of Canada in 1996. Since 2004, he has been with the Office of the Correctional Investigator (Federal Prison Ombudsman), becoming Executive Director and General Counsel in 2009. In 2017, he was Appointed Correctional Investigator of Canada, and he also launched the Expert Network on External Prison Oversight & Human Rights under the governance of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA). He has received multiple awards for his contributions to corrections and prisoner rights.
