Carey Majid

Carey Majid, KC (she/her) is the Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission. Carey founded CJC and through her leadership is redesigning the human rights complaint process, and the redevelopment of CJC’s restorative justice process. She is a lawyer with over 20 years of experience, practicing exclusively in the area of human rights and administrative law. She was elected a Bencher of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2021 and appointed King’s Counsel in 2022. She is Chair of the Law Society’s Equity and Diversity Committee, sits on the First Voice Partnership Table and is a member of the provincial A2J Committee.
